St. Andrew is known as the first disciple. Having met Jesus, Andrew then found his brother Simon and brought him to Jesus. On each occasion he is mentioned in the Bible, he was instrumental in bringing others to meet Jesus. He was crucified on an X-shaped cross because he did not feel worthy to be crucified on the same type of cross as his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
